Tipping: how much should you leave to a waiter in Marrakech?

When paying the bill, you have probably already wondered whether to tip the waiter or not. The answer is yes, but how much?

In Morocco it is customary to tip between 5% and 10% to the waiter who provided the service. However, this percentage can rise to 15% in upscale bars or gourmet restaurants. It is not uncommon to sometimes see service charges on the final bill which amount to 10%. Despite this, a tip of 5 or 10% will always be welcome and accepted by the server.

A tip of 10 to 15% is the norm in the rest of Africa for good service in a restaurant or bar. Wages are low in much of the continent, so tips are welcome.
