Itinerary

Meeting of the participants, after breakfast, at the Riad where you are staying and departure from Fes through the Middle Atlas mountain range; you reach Ifrane, a small town known as the "Little Switzerland of Morocco". We continue towards Azrou, a centuries-old cedar forest, inhabited by friendly families of barber macaques. We will continue towards Midelt through constantly changing landscapes. After lunch, in the early afternoon, departure towards the desert; we will cross the wonderful Ziz Valley between typical Berber villages and spectacular palm oases. After about an hour's journey we will reach Erfoud, at the gates of the desert, famous for hosting the date festival in October. From here you will begin to see the wonderful dunes of Erg Chebbi. Once in Merzouga, we will leave the 4×4 and go up on the back of a dromedary for the walk of about an hour and a half in the heart of the dunes. Free time on the dunes to observe the splendid sunset that only the desert can offer. Return to the camp, at the foot of the dunes, on the back of a dromedary. Dinner, Berber musical entertainment and overnight stay in a private tent.

Waking up at dawn to admire the sunrise from the Sahara dunes and take photographs from the highest dune. Dromedary ride in the heart of the dunes and return. After a delicious breakfast, departure towards the Todra Gorges. The journey continues along a beautiful road and landscapes within which you will see numerous Berber villages. We will cross the splendid city of Rissani, surrounded by the largest palm grove in all of Morocco and by beautiful views that indicate the proximity of the desert; ancient caravan route with sub-Saharan Africa, a town of great historical importance and religious center, witness to the Alaouite dynasty, has a very high number of kasbahs still inhabited. We will stop to visit the lively souk and the Mosque of Moulay Ali Sherif, founder of the Alauoite dynasty. We continue in the direction of Tinherir towards the deep Todra Gorges, one of the most beautiful points of the High Atlas. We will continue towards the Dades Valley, along the road that will take us to cross the canyons and admire the Jebel Saghro mountain range known for its gold and silver mines which, at the time of the war, was testimony to the resistance of the Berber people against the French army. We will arrive in Boumalne Dades for dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.

Departure from Boumalne Dades towards the Valley of Roses, characterized by boundless plantations of damask rose, in the direction of Ouarzazate, home to important film studios. You will have the opportunity to visit (optional) the Atlas Studios where numerous films set in the desert were shot including "Lawrence of Arabia", "Tea in the Desert", or "Kundun" by Martin Scorsese. We will visit (optional) the Kasbah Taourirt, with its enormous crenellated towers. We will continue to Ksar Ait Benhaddou where a splendid Kasbah stands, a fine example of southern Moroccan architecture and the setting for many important film sets and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will continue in the direction of Marrakech crossing the High Atlas mountains and, among spectacular landscapes, we will cross the Tizi n'Tichka pass (2260 metres) to reach the final destination of our journey. Transfer to the Hotel/Riad where you are staying.
